How to Stop Pop Up Windows
Porn & advertising pop-ups may appear because a spyware program has been installed on your computer, possibly without your knowledge. Spyware can gather information about your computer, send information to advertisers, and pop up advertisements on your computer.
Solutions for preventing future problems.
- Make sure your anti-virus software is always up to date by selecting its automatic update feature.
- Install the free Spybot Search & Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org/.
- Install a pop up stopping program such as Pop Up Stopper.
- Use an email SPAM filter.
- Use the latest Windows operating system and activate its auto-update feature.
Instructions to remove pop-up windows advertisements and pornography:
Uninstall DownloadWare
Step 1: Perform an automatic uninstall.
- From the taskbar, click Start.
- Click Settings.
- Click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Remove the following programs, if present:
- DownloadWare
- Network Essentials
Step 2: Delete the program folders.
- From the taskbar, click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type C:\Program Files
- Click OK.
- Delete the following folders:
- DownloadWare
- MovieNetworks
- Network Essentials
Note: To delete a folder, click on the folder to highlight it. Right-click on the folder to open a menu. Click Delete. When the confirmation box appears, click Yes.
Step 3: Edit the registry.
- From the taskbar, click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type regedit
- Click OK.
- The Registry Editor appears. Click the plus sign (+) next to each of the following:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Software
- Delete each of the following in the left pane:
- DownloadWare
- Hopper
- MediaCharger
- Webinstall
- Restart the computer.
